Dr. Abebe BelayDMU, Project Development and Partnership Director

Topic : AI Technology for Future Intelligent Computing
Dr. Abebe Belay adege is a Project Development and Partnership Director, an assistant Professor of computer Science in Debre Markos University. He followed his postdoctoral education in National Chiao Tung University(NCTU), Taiwan. He has done numbers of works related to Drone technology for Computer Vision and Networking Applications (Data Fusion). He received his PhD from national Taiwan University of Technology (NTUT). His M.Sc and B.SC degrees was got from Addis Ababa University. Prior to joining DMU, he was a lecturer in Jimma University and Addis Ababa Science and Technology University. Currently, Dr.Abebe created more than 35 international partnerships to DMU, hunting project calls and share to DMU staffs, and writing granted projects. Besides, He is working as a Lead Researcher in Ethiopian Policy Institute for one National Research, project member in a ten year (DMU), Digital Heritage for Ethiopia (AAU), and PI of Tourism Industry in Amhara Region (DMU). Dr. Abebe has more than 20 published Articles, and more than 10 ongoing papers.

Topic : Why we lagged behind the world in AI?
Michael Melese Woldeyohannis is an assistant professor at School of Information Science, Addis Ababa University. He completed his Ph.D. at the IT Doctoral program of Addis Ababa University, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. His main research focuses on Natural Language Processing for the underrepresented African languages specifically in speech recognition and machine translation. He has done a number of publications on Machine Learning that intersect with natural language processing including ACL, EMNLP and LREC.
